Corregidor Island

For Thanksgiving, we went to a place called Corregidor.  You say it like this: Core, Egg, Adore.  First we had to get up early so we could drive to Manila, then we took a ferry from Manila to Corregidor Island. 

The ferry ride there was pretty good, but the ride home made me sick. 

Corregidor was a big part of World War II.  There are lots of old buildings and guns, plus some monuments and a hotel.

These were called the "Mile Long Barracks."

This statue is called "Brothers in Arms" and shows an American soldier and a Filipino soldier helping each other.

This is a cool sculpture called "The Eternal Flame."

Corregidor is shaped like a tadpole- you can see the tail behind my dad.

This is inside of our hotel.

We went swimming, of course.

I stacked rocks while we watched the sun set.

Kiki and I gathered shells and played on the beach.

This is the first flag that flew over Corregidor.  It only had 45 stars.

This is General MacArthur and Flat Stanley.  They both shall return!
